From Faith to Forgiveness With Iris Haim

Wednesday, January 28, 7:00 PM- 9:00 PM
In Kalamazoo.
We are honored to host Iris Haim from Israel, the mother of Yotam Haim, who was held captive in Gaza, heroically escaped, and was tragically killed by friendly fire while running to safety. In an extraordinary act of compassion, Iris reached out to the IDF soldiers involved, offering them comfort amid their grief.

On October 7, 2023, Iris’s life changed forever when her son, Yotam, a 28-year-old musician from Kibbutz Kfar Aza, was kidnapped and held hostage in Gaza. Throughout the 70 days of his captivity, Iris made a conscious decision to live from a place of faith, love and hope—believing that Yotam was alive, enduring, and cared for. Her voice became one of the most inspiring symbols of strength, compassion and unwavering belief in humanity.

Even after receiving the devastating news that Yotam was killed by friendly fire while escaping captivity, Iris chose resilience once again—turning her pain into purpose, and her grief into a source of healing for others.

Hear Iris's powerful message of forgiveness and unity as she navigates profound loss while honoring Yotam's bravery and moments of freedom in the midst of tragedy. Through her story of faith, suffering, and resilience, Iris issues an urgent call for unity within the Jewish nation.
Joining Iris is Yotam’s brother, Tuval Haim, an accomplished Israeli musician and Yotam’s closest musical partner. Tuval will perform live alongside video and audio of Yotam, bringing his spirit to the stage in a moving tribute.
